Douglas R. Lupo

Doug was born in Augusta, Georgia in 1960, to former Robert M. Lupo, Jr. “Bob” and Carolyn S. Lupo.  After the divorce of his parents in 1969, Doug moved, with his mom and sister, to Burlington, North Carolina, the ancestral home of his grandparents James V. “Jimmy” and Beulah M. (Matkins) Simpson. Doug graduated from Southern Alamance High School in 1978 and East Carolina University in 1982, with a Bachelor Science  (B.S.) Degree in Industrial Management. In December 1982, Doug was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant (2LT) in the U.S. Air Force and served through the rank of Captain until honorably discharged in June of 1989. In July of 1989, Doug enrolled into the Missionary Aviation Program at Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music (GRSBM), Michigan, now known as Cornerstone University. Shortly after Doug’s enrollment into GRSBM, he and Lillian met and were married on June 30th, 1990. After completing Bible college, numerous aviation licenses (A & P Mechanic, Commercial-Instrument Multi-Engine Flight Instructor), and gaining experience, the Lupos went to South Africa, as missionaries, and returned to Burlington in late 2000. HOBBIES: I have had numerous hobbies and interests over the years. The ones I have enjoyed the most are church involvement, creation research, flying, running, coaching soccer, ancestry research, playing disc golf, and American Civil War History.
