TITLE: The Right Stuff … What Does It Take to Follow Christ?

TEXT: Luke 14:25-27, 33; Matthew 16:24-25; John 12:25-26; Matthew 19:16-21; Revelation 3:15-16

DESCRIPTION: Jesus was no moderate! He came to call people out of moderation, out of being lukewarm. He went around healing people on the Sabbath, offending the religious leaders, and He said some very difficult things. He told people, and those who followed Him, to live very distinct lives. The call of Jesus is a call to follow, but most just come to sit and listen. Jesus did not call people to just sit, listen, and hear a motivational message. He calls for people to come and follow Him.  As much as we would like to “water things down,” His message has not changed for us today. This sermon takes a closer look at some of the “hard sayings” Jesus said and what do they mean for us.
